Intro: World Expo 2267 (or the World of Andromeda and You)
Hi.
What's up hello hi howdy hello hi :D!
I'm Andromeda like the galaxy or the song! I'm an aspiring filmmaker and a writer with the heart of an artist. Unfortunately, I can't draw all too well so I use words and pictures instead! This blog will be my archive for a setting I've been working on for years and this post is your intro to that world. Now then...
What Is The World Of Andromeda?
Andromeda is a science fantasy setting built upon the back of centuries of storytelling from authors far more talented than myself. I like to call it a "public domain universe", one that takes science fiction staples like H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds and Fritz Lang's Metropolis and plops them in the same universe as stories and legends like Dracula, Cthulhu, and Jason and the Argonauts all with a retro-futuristic coat of paint. These retooled stories are interspersed with original elements, but everything contributes to telling a whole new story with the sum of mixed parts.
Okay But What Is Andromeda?
Admittedly that blurb above was rather vague, but the core story of Andromeda can be found in the far-flung future of the 23th century. It's been quite a while since humanity took to the stars only to find that every planet they knew went by another name. They were the last in the Sol System to discover interplanetary travel and was greeted with an apprehensive universe. Luckily, their proficiency with Essence, the magical lifeblood of everything living or otherwise, allowed them to fit right in.
Over decades of first contacts, hiccups and close calls, humanity was inducted into the Interstellar Republic, an alliance between over a hundred of populated planets and moons within the Sol Systems and its neighbors. The lifeblood of this Republic is its Navy, a space force that traverses the stars to research new worlds and defend against those who'd wish to set the stars ablaze in chaos. As it voyages across the Milky Way, humanity leaves behind a history of diviners, dictators and demigods back home, but this, for now, is the way things are.
Alright That Sounds Kinda Cool Where Does The Story Start?
Neat Now What?
I'll use this blog to dump lore about the greater world as well as its past and the future of the Destiny crew. Hopefully, I’ll even have art to go along with it. If you want, considering subscribing for more trips to the stars! Thanks for reading!
