Cosmic Wayfinder: Iovis, the Great Genesis
Iovis, the Great Genesis
Iovis, the eighth planet from Sol, is the largest planet in the system, or the “Great Genesis”, and the closest gas giant to its star. Gas planets have no physical surface as the entire planet exists as a gaseous layer with no separation between its atmosphere. Despite this, wildlife exists within the gasses that make up Iovis and experience weather. An image of Iovis from orbit
The Crimson Eye
The Crimson Eye is a persistent storm of Essence on Jupiter’s surface, the largest in the solar system. The swirling mass of crimson clouds constantly moves across the planet and even “blinks” when the storm briefly stops before surging again. The eye's “iris” lies at its core, where the storm is centered around an opening to the planet’s outer layer.
The Iovans
Due to lacking a physical surface, Iovis only possesses wildlife that can survive within the planet, not sentient species. There are, however, several species that populate Iovis’ nearly one hundred moons. Most notable are the self-proclaimed Iovans who’ve claimed the planet with a persistent satellite presence. The Iovans stand at an average of five feet. They have vibrant, scaly skin and have fins on their limbs and the side of their face. Many of Iovis’ moons were aquatic environments, leading the Iovans to develop webbed features, fish-like eyes, and tails in some cases. Iovis’ most populated moons have been transformed into city-worlds, sporting a mostly metallic surface and the ability to artificially shift their speed and direction within orbit.A Tour De Force
Iovis supplements much of the Republic’s might, possessing fleets of ships and many citizens who become conscripted into the military. While the aggressive culture of the Iovans initially made them enemies of the Republic, most of Iovis’ moons now fall under the Republic, with their citizens being loyal allies to the greater system.
