Cosmic Wayfinder: Akjotel, the Deep Mesh

Akjotel, the Deep Mesh

Akjotel, “The Deep Mesh”, is the seventh planet from Sol. Its surface is a mixture of salt deposits and frozen lakes, and its features consist of mountains, canyons, and caverns. Wildlife has adapted to these craggy conditions with wings, hooves, and other means of alternate mobility in rugged terrain. Akjotel’s weather is cold and stagnant, hardly giving the ideal conditions for severe weather phenomena.

The Pholey Understate

Akjotel possesses a series of tunnels running through the entire planet's crust. Most of these tunnels are artificially linked to create an underground highway large enough to fly cargo ships through. Openings to these highways can be found in Akjotel’s major surface cities, which lead to the even larger cities beneath the planet used for mining operations.

The Akjotelites

The Akjotelites are bat-like humanoids standing at an average of eight feet tall and boasting a wingspan of sixteen feet across two sets of arms. Akjotelites have pointed ears, snubbed snouts, and clawed hands and feet. Their wings rest beneath their arms and allow for flight even within vacuums. Additionally, Akjotelites possess a keen manipulation of sound, allowing them to communicate over long distances and enhance their senses. They are also sensitive to bright light due to the nature of their homeworld.

A World of Opportunity

Much of Akjotel is used for business infrastructure, such as manufacturing plants and shipyards on the surface or cities and tourism within the planet. The caverns in the deeper portions of the planet boast rare gems and exotic creatures. Due to Akjotelite culture, some facilities are built with upside-down quarters to facilitate the majority population of workers.
