Cosmic Wayfinder: Dis Orima, the Twisting Verth

Dis Orima, the Twisting Verth

Known as “The Twisting Verth”, Dis Orima is the fourteenth planet from Sol. It is comprised of rolling plains and shores of black vegetation and white lakes that don’t freeze over despite Dis Orima’s cold weather. Despite appearing as a perfectly spherical planet from orbit, Dis Orima’s surface lies in an alternate dimension. Its landscapes are angled, with some even stretching vertically for miles. Trees grow sideways and upside down while fields curl around each other, creating an intricate network of wormholes that lead on and off the surface. Wildlife on Dis Orima has no problem defying gravity and living at every angle.

Even with Dis Orima’s rules of direction and force, the planet has a sky. It is an endless night sky that never changes. Dis Orima never experiences weather aside from light rain, and the stars still change to correspond with what would normally be seen from the surface. Despite this, all attempts to leave Dis Orima traditionally via spaceship have ended in failures and travelers missing in action, leaving astronomers and cosmonauts stumped as to where Dis Orima’s sky really leads.

The Orim

The Orim are a humanoid species standing at an average of three feet tall. They have pitch-black skin, large glowing facial features, and long elliptical ears. They have two legs but lack arms. Instead, they use psychokinetic abilities to manipulate objects near them and remain upright when walking at odd angles amidst their homeworld’s bizarre gravity.

Concerning Orim

Because of Dis Orima’s physics, Republic ships couldn’t land on its surface or even teleport through the barriers around it. It took decades before teleportation technology could pierce through the veil of the Dis Orima dimension and allow for exploration. When they arrived, the Orim aided the Republic in adapting to their world. Gravity harnesses were implemented, and eventually, artificial gravity facilities were created. Now, Dis Orima serves as an ally of the Republic as an agricultural hub as well as a hub of knowledge over Essence and the adaptation of gravity.
