Cosmic Wayfinder: Earth, the Blue Marble
Earth, the Blue Marble
Earth, the fourth planet from Sol, is called by its planet and the system like “The Blue Marble” due to its vast oceans and swirling atmosphere of clouds. Earth boasts a surface temperature of 59 degrees Fahrenheit and, due to the large deposits of Essence ley lines within its core, possesses a diverse ecosystem of forests, deserts, tundras, and other biomes. Thousands of species of animals, plants, fungi, and marine life populate its surface in nearly every corner of the world. An image of Earth from orbit
A Wellspring Running Over
In the late 20th century, humanity’s overuse of Essence-based weaponry terraformed the planet, awakening many of the ley lines across the planet's surface. This resulted in the rapid mutation of the planet's population, transmuting them into Essence-modified organisms (EMOs) and gaining the attention of Æfensteorra, who would intervene years later.
The Terrans
Humans (or Terrans as a collective) are mostly hairless bipedal creatures with two arms, two legs, and round ears. On average, they stand about six feet. They are a versatile species with an above-average affinity for Essence. Most of the human population are EMOs, sometimes possessing animalistic mutations such as tails and horns.
One Small Step
Human settlements are among the largest in the Sol System. Earth's cities, colonies, and space stations make up much of the Republic’s population despite humanity’s short tenure in the faction. They’ve cemented their presence in all corners of the system and beyond, putting their curious nature on full display as the ones that will go where no one has been before. They cart knowledge of their world out to others, and in return, Earth has become a cultural hub of information through the Sol System and beyond.
